Guest Testimonials

We have had such a wonderful time here. The Cottage is so beautiful and the area is so amazing. We have enjoyed the beach, water and of course the lobster! Thank you so much.

We were 2 seniors, 1 adult, 1 child, staying three nights at Neptune’s Rise. The cottage is clean, modern, perfect amount of space for us. The upper level has a lovely kitchen, half bath and lounging area. There is a little perfect deck off of the kitchen to watch the ocean. Walking down a little path takes you to a pebbly beach to explore. We did not go into the ocean, but you certainly can. We saw deer and loads of heron.

There are two beaches we went to nearby: Cresent and Roseway. They were spectacular. Everything in Shelburne was closed tight due to Covid restrictions, but we shopped at Sobeys and enjoyed ice cream at Mo’s, which was fun.

The lower level of the cottage has two nice sized bedrooms and a huge bathroom. Loads of towels and comfy linens. There is a single trundle bed under the stairs. The blinds in both bedrooms did not keep the early sunrise out, so my daughter was early to rise, but that’s a normal summer issue. One bedroom only had a single window that opened so that could get quite warm. Bring a fan.

The breeze off of the ocean was amazing. There was loads of fun crafts and games. The house was comfortable, very private and a perfect getaway for us. We did not use the paddle boards as I could not find ankle straps for them. There was a big drawer of life jackets which was nice.

Highly recommended.

 Your own world
It's the third time I've stayed in this snug little house on its very own bay. Ragged Island Retreat is like a ship on the sandy, tidal lake -- a short kayak trip from the crashing ocean beach at Hemeons Head, and along a strip of land protected by the Nature Conservancy. I could watch the changing waters, and birds overhead, all day. Cool mists for evening walks and sun-heated swimming in the deep salt water pools of the "lake" are both amazing. This area is so beautiful -- rural and wild, yet a short drive from the town of Lockeport and the beautiful harbor of Shelburne, and the long sand beach at Louis Head.

What a beautiful spot! Enjoyed the beaches and Keji. Also, enjoyed studying all the interesting art and mementos that seem to have been carefully chosen and collected over many years. Francis Louis House is a great place to stay.

Kejimkujik National Park

This granite boulder, now supporting the roots of a stately tree, was smoothed and transported to this spot by the action of glaciers. Geologists sometimes refer to such boulders as "glacial erratics". Photo by Keith Vaughan.
